Here’s my second attempt at a fusion illustration of Judith: part medieval, part pen and ink, part Photoshop and part Biblical reference. Over the past couple of months I’ve been looking at a lot of medieval imagery. This image could be classified as a drawing by osmosis but I guess ‘fusion’ sounds better. Better to osmose on imagery than get fat on iced buns, though I could do with one of those right now, it’s far more enjoyable. Sticky bun anyone? My calories await me. Must dash – byeeee.

From the Bible:
Judith Chapter 8
33 Tonight you must be at the gate of the town. I shall make my way out with my attendant. Before the time fixed by you for surrendering the town to our enemies, the Lord will make use of me to rescue Israel.
34 You must not ask what I intend to do; I shall not tell you until I have done it.’

I spent a couple of hours over this piece last night. It will need to be re-drawn.

This early evening, after a good hour drooling over a book entitled ‘The Age of Titian,’ I bounced to the drawing board inspired but ended up drawing this fellow. Yes, talk about anti-climax, it aint Titian, it’s the silly season.
Moons ago, when I was an actor (burnt my Equity card back in 2003) I played Dandini and the Wicked Witch in a pantomime version of Cinderella. Getting booed off stage for the right reasons was hugely pleasurable, I loved playing the witch. Kjartan Poskitt wrote the panto. For those young bloods amongst you, Kjartan Poskitt was, back then, not only a writer but made regular tv appearances explaining maths and science to kids. He used to visit us during rehearsals which was always nerve wracking. The show, an all singing, all dancing, fine panto acting production included a memorable audience participatory drinking song:
‘Drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it all day long, sink-a, sink-a, sink-a sink, a sink another one..(you get the gist). The show won The London Fringe Award for best production. A real prince (Prince Edward) presented our theatre company the award at the beautiful Hackney Empire. After the show went dark, we all ended up happily unemployed, or most of us did as is the way of the actors life. Hackney Empire puts on a fantastic panto. I’ve been going there for the past 3 years. Anyway, I digress.
This understated panto dame is actually doing a tapis walk. Note the Titian hair.
