My work is inspired by medieval marginalia, the spoken word, nature and magic. My first illustration commission was with TBWA Simons Palmer story boarding Cadbury’s commercials.  More recently my work is in the Museums & Heritage Sector in the UK.

Route to the Hills,  2016-2018 In summer 2018, I will have completed a 3 year public art commission with Route to the Hills, a lottery funded multi-partnership promoting Great Malvern’s social, cultural, scientific and geographical history.

Royal Cambrian Academy 2017
Group Exhibition ‘Imaginary Landscapes’ curated by Clive Hicks Jenkins. Produced a series of illustrated prose poems with a gentle nod to medieval marginalia.

Manchester University 2016 
Group Exhibition ‘Comic & the Cathode Ray. Curated by Mack Manning, Neil Hadfield, Andrew Kulman. Artists respond to inspired comic characters of childhood.

Trust New Art & National Trust First Dortothy Una Ratcliffe Fellowship 2015
Artist residency at NT Acorn Bank in Cumbria. The Trust New Art initiative brings contemporary artists into historic sites. Inspired by the National Trust Acorn Bank’s extensive herb collection, I explored astro herbalism and created a book called Planetary Energetics and Herbal Correspondences.

House of Illustration/Hay Literary Festival 2015
Group Exhibition ‘Pushing the Envelope’ celebrating 175 years of the Penny Black curated by Neil Hadfield. Produced a series of illustrated envelopes, these are now in the archival collection at Hereford College of Art.

English Heritage, Osborne House, Isle of Wight 2013-2014
Chief illustrator for a permanent exhibition at English Heritage’s Osborne House. I produced traditional pen and ink drawings highlighting Queen Victoria’s children at play. Artwork features on museum walls, signage, furniture, windows and also features in an outdoor activity trail for children. This 1.65m Heritage Lottery funded conservation project was officially re-opened by Prince Edward in 2014.

Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival/Shrewsbury Council 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012
Devised and led cartoon workshops for the general public. Cartoon contributor to group exhibitions at the Bear Steps Gallery.

Poetry Society 2012
Group Exhibition ‘Happy Birthday Edward Lear’ celebrating the poet and painter Edwards Lear. Curated by Andrew Baker and Linda Hughes.
